Rodney McGill, the founder, incorporated The Save Our Children Movement Inc on July 21, 2014. Rodney successfully received his 501c3 determination letter on July 29, 2014. Initially, SOCMINC was founded to focus only on underprivileged children. Therefore, the agency created a network of tutors, mentors, social service providers, mental health counselors, tradesmen, entrepreneurs, and other community stakeholders. SOCMINC held events in those same areas that they are currently focused on; opportunity zones. As SOCMINC worked inside of low-income communities in Mecklenburg County, they were able to collaborate with other community organizations in the county. This collaborative method has thus far allowed the agency to remain solvent.
